Repurposing of 1425 NY Ave
- Office building converted into residential property
- Completed ahead of schedule and under budget
Location:
Washington, DC
Project Team:
- Owner/General Contractor (Joint Venture): Clark-Foulger Pratt
- Specialty Subcontractor: STRUCTURAL
In recent years, repurposing buildings has gained momentum, offering significant benefits such as reducing waste and revitalizing communities.
STRUCTURAL was contracted to perform repairs for a vacant 14-story office building that was being converted into the closest residential property to the White House in D.C. The scope of work included relocating crew performed post-tensioning anchors across all balconies and the interior atrium, as well as de-tensioning post-tensioning slabs and beams in areas marked for mass demolition.
Given the involvement of multiple contractors in the conversion process, effective communication and coordination were critical. Even with the complex logistics, the project was completed both ahead of schedule and under budget.
