Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) identified significant deterioration and water infiltration in the below-grade reinforced concrete tunnels serving the Nursing School and Riley Hospital buildings. To ensure long-term durability, comprehensive concrete repairs and waterproofing were essential.
STRUCTURAL performed the work, which included internal concrete repairs, reconstruction of a section of the below-grade ceiling, and the installation of a waterproofing system. Given the tunnel’s location beneath a busy pedestrian area, coordination with the hospital was crucial to minimize disruption.
The project was completed on time and within budget, successfully enhancing the protection and longevity of the infrastructure.
